Hello Georgia Orthopaedic Society Colleagues and Happy New Year!On behalf of your Board as your representatives on the AAOS Board of Councilors, we have a request. It will take less than 5 minutes and if you pick up your cell phone you can do it right now. We need you to once again give an end of the year contribution to our AAOS PAC if you haven’t already given in 2018. Our end of the year push for PAC last year was very successful and in fact, GOS has been included at the AAOS office on the AAOS PAC Wall-of-Fame for our over the top giving! As John T. Gill, MD, Chairman of the AAOS PAC, recently said, “You’ve seen what the PAC and our Office of Government Relations can achieve for your practice environment – from academics, to private practice, to hospital employment. Through your past support, the PAC has been instrumental in preserving the right to in-office ancillary services, repealing IPAB, achieving technical fixes to MACRA, successfully fighting reimbursement cuts and recently winning unanimous passage of the Sports Medicine Licensure Clarity bill into law. We are also actively involved in passing the “Good Samaritan” liability bill (to protect physicians who serve in disaster relief across state lines.) Please consider a contribution of $500, $250, or $100 or join me at the Capitol Club level of $1,000. We can even set up monthly or quarterly payments that you will hardly notice. But really, more than the dollar amount, I want to be able to count you as a PAC member at any level, an AAOS fellow willing to invest in their future. Let’s get this done together.” This process doesn’t just happen. It takes folks like Dr. Gill and a salaried AAOS staff along with a few hundred others of us that volunteer time to work the process. *Please pick up your cell phone and enter AAOS in the text field and 41444 as the number you send that message to. You will quickly receive a text with a link to a website where you can enter a dollar amount and payment method. Choose any $$ amount you want. No amount is too small. As of December 21st the AAOS PAC was within $18,000 of its $4 million goal! We need Georgia orthopaedists to help push this over the top again. Please do this right away. We have until December 31st.
