The Georgia Orthopaedic Society Political Action Committee is a registered State of Georgia PAC and can accept corporate and personal contributions. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our State lobbyist Don Bolia at email@example.com or on his cell phone at 404-314-4844.
The Political Action Committee of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society, or “The Georgia Ortho-PAC”, is the only state political action committee representing orthopaedic surgeons before the Georgia General Assembly. It is your voice, your strength, your access to the State Capitol.
The purposes of the Georgia Ortho-PAC are to:
The GOS was actively engaged during the 2016 Legislative Session as well as closely monitoring regulatory changes in Georgia. We have been actively coordinating our efforts with MAG and other specialty societies to push back on several pieces of legislation. We have noticed a big push by other providers to increase their scope of practice and we have been aggressively working to defeat those measures. We have also worked closely with other providers to study how to deal with out of network charges. This issue will be front and center during the 2017 Legislative Session and we are looking at alternative solutions. In addition to playing defense, we have been actively engaged in other agenda items including working closely with the Workers’ Compensation Board to develop a stronger relationship and positioning GOS to be involved in the 2018 Election Cycle.
One goal of the Georgia Ortho-PAC is to create opportunities for the GOS members to interact with their Georgia legislators and elected officials. When contributions are presented, we work to arrange a direct presentation between our orthopaedic members and the candidates or elected officials. This allows our members the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with them and to discuss in person the issues facing the orthopaedic profession.
Your contributions to the GOS PAC are leveraged to make sure that member physicians have a true voice in government, and allows the Society to provide non-partisan support to key policy makers that are vital to making decisions on how your practice is governed and allowed to operate.
Without this key element, the Society’s message could get diluted by other special interests that may be adverse to the Society’s goals and agenda. The GOS PAC handles these donations with the highest moral and ethical standards. Policy makers are vetted by the Board of Directors and our members are directly involved in the distribution of the contributions to key elected officials. This ensures that your hard earned dollars are not wasted and have the maximum impact. We hope you will consider making a contribution to the PAC today. It is vital to our cause and vital to the continued success the Society has experienced in the public policy arena. If you have any questions, I encourage you to reach out to your board members and feel free to contact our lobbyist, Don Bolia at 404-314-4844.
Thanks in advance for your generous contribution and involvement on this highly critical matter.
IMPORTANT: Given today’s healthcare climate, I understand that physicians are finding less time to become advocates for their patients and the future of their profession. Therefore, the GOS PAC is an investment in a brighter future for our orthopaedic community. I also have learned that our legislators WANT and NEED to hear from physicians. If you DO find the time, please make an effort to get to know your legislators and let them know that physicians are still dedicated to the preservation and advancement of quality patient care in Georgia!Need to find your legislator?
